Open Happiness

"Make damn sure what you’re waiting for, is worth the fucking wait."

"And kid, you’ve got to love yourself. You’ve got wake up at four in the morning, brew black coffee, and stare at the birds drowning in the darkness of the dawn. You’ve got to sit next to the man at the train station who’s reading your favorite book and start a conversation. You’ve got to come home after a bad day and burn your skin from a shower. Then you’ve got to wash all your sheets until they smell of lemon detergent you bought for four dollars at the local grocery store. You’ve got to stop taking everything so goddam personally. You are not the moon kissing the black sky. You’ve got to compliment someones crooked brows at an art fair and tell them that their eyes remind you of green swimming pools in mid July. You’ve got to stop letting yourself get upset about things that won’t matter in two years. Sleep in on Saturday mornings and wake yourself up early on Sunday. You’ve got to stop worrying about what you’re going to tell her when she finds out. You’ve got to stop over thinking why he stopped caring about you over six months ago. You’ve got to stop asking everyone for their opinions. Fuck it. Love yourself, kiddo. You’ve got to love yourself."

pretty-little-sparia asked: How are you so positive? Teach me your ways

Realize nobody can touch you. If you let them, they can change you for better or for worse, but they need your permission. Your life is 100% OPEN. The possibilities are ENDLESS. Stop looking to the people around you for guidance and realize God is the only one with all the answers, that’s what I was saying in our song Everything You Have - “talkin like they know but they don’t know a thing”. That was me realizing all these people giving me all this “advice” on how to be “happy” weren’t happy at all. Why should I listen to them??? You have to take things as they come into your life and actively decide what to keep and what to toss. Put yourself in the driver seat, make decisions and believe in yourself. YOU GOT THIS. Life doesn’t have to be so hard and sad and horrible. Of course there will be difficult times and struggles but those are what make it so great. It’s not WHAT you’re seeing, it’s how you’re seeing it. Learn to appreciate tough times and realize they’re building a stronger and better you. Stop expecting your life to be any certain thing (like “why am I sad? It’s summer I’m supposed to be happy” or whatever), accept it for whatever it is and then TAKE it and RUN with it. Set goals, work toward them and do that victory dance when you can see that vase shaping out of the clay! Haha YOU GOT THIS :)))
